Movie Logos of The Future?

March 19, 2010

If the film medium is dying should we still use film reels in movie logos? As a way of paying tribute or remembering how movies got started?  It seems most of the major studios don’t have the film reel/strip incorporated into their logo except the New Line Cinema/Magnolia Pictures/MGM logos.  Surprisingly I can’t think of many companies that do have the film reel/strip incorporated in their logo, except for the few listed below that I’m aware of.  Since I can’t think of many large companies that have the film reel/strip in their logo, is incorporating it working for the brand/company?  I do see it often used for promotional use, film communities, festivals, and the critics.  So what do you think?  Does it matter if the medium is dying or will the reel always symbolize movies no matter what form people are watching them?

After doing some research I found some interesting links on the famous movie studios logos.
