For the past 8 years I’ve been keeping a list of film titles I watched throughout the year. If you’re interested in the previous years you can click on these links: 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010.

(Count 86)

Obviously this year I haven’t watched as much as previous years as I’ve been busy creating my own work but I do find it interesting to keep track of the films I’ve watched over the years as a way to figure out an average amount of films watched per year, and even get an estimate on how much one could watch within a lifetime. Also, it’s a way for me to go back and search if I’ve watched a movie. I may consider adding series within these lists such as The Night Of, Master of None, and Black Mirror — all which I’ve watched over the years, including other shows as well. What would be considered a TV-Series not too many years ago, have now joined along the ranks of film because I believe a story can be much deeper, instead of compacted in a 90 or 120 minute film. I may have added a few series in previous lists (I don’t remember), but moving forward I think that’s what I’ll do. Another thought is that although this list count is not as high as previous years, content is being viewed much more digitally than in recent years through YouTube videos, podcasts, etc. I think the consumption rate of content may actually be greater than the movie lists I’ve created over the years, that it eventually gets to the point where it’s impossible, and possibly pointless to keep track of everything. Movies have inspired me over the years, and even some that most would consider not so good, I still learn from them as well. And so moving ahead, I’ll still keep track of the films I watch — Here’s to a New Year!
